Abstract

Abstract

  1. TITAN Petrokimia Nusantara is the first polyethylene producing industry in Indonesia. Every industry, in addition to producing industrial liquid waste, also produces domestic liquid waste. Therefore, it is necessary to manage and supervise domestic liquid waste. One form of supervision is that domestic waste that will be discharged into the sea must meet the domestic wastewater quality standards in the Decree of the Minister of State for the Environment No. 112 of 2003. So before being discharged into the sea, management is needed. PT. TITAN Petrokimia Nusantara manages domestic waste with activated carbon adsorption. This study aims to optimize the adsorption capacity of activated carbon by analyzing parameters such as pH, BOD, TSS, TDS, and ammonia levels. Optimization of activated carbon is carried out by activation (oven, T = 100⁰C), variation of homogenization time, and variation of activated carbon mass. The results of the study showed that with these three methods, the BOD, TSS, and TDS values decreased. While the pH value increased and the ammonia level did not decrease significantly. The results of this management indicate that PT. TITAN Petrokimia Nusantara's domestic waste meets the domestic wastewater quality standards
