Abstract

ABSTRACT

Occupational safety and health (OHS) is an important aspect in the industrial world, especially in the chemical sector such as PT. MI Cilegon. This study aims to analyze the potential hazards in decanter overhaul work activities using the HIRARC (Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control) method. The study was conducted through direct observation, interviews with employees, and data collection on work accidents and work activities in 2023. Based on the results of the analysis of 8 main work activities, 37 potential hazards were found which were classified into 4 risk level categories: low, medium, high, and extreme risk. Most of the potential hazards are controlled by administrative controls and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). This study concludes that the application of the HIRARC method is effective in identifying and controlling potential hazards in the decanter overhaul process, as well as providing recommendations for improving occupational safety in the company.
