This research focuses on the analysis of the quality control system in the refining process of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) at PT XYZ, with the aim of minimizing the level of Free Fatty Acid (FFA) in Refined, Bleached, and Deodorized Palm Oil (RBDPO) products. The quantitative approach applied is based on the Six Sigma methodology through the DMAIC cycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). The evaluation of the process is strengthened by triangulation of data sourced from field observations, structured interviews, internal documentation, and the company's historical track record. In the Define phase, process mapping is carried out through SIPOC diagrams and Critical to Quality (CTQ) determination. The Measure phase involves measuring stability through the P control map as well as calculating the values of DPU, DPO, DPMO, and sigma capabilities. Next, the Analyze phase utilizes Pareto and Fishbone diagrams to identify the root cause of the problem. Based on the findings, the average out-of-spec FFA product throughout 2025 will reach 2.9%, with a DPMO value of 9,752.3232 and a performance level of 3.87 sigma (equivalent to the national industry average). The main triggering factors for this failure come from human, machine, method, material, environmental, and measurement aspects. As a solution, in the Improve stage, recommendations based on 5W+1H were prepared which included tightening raw material supervision, maintenance of vacuum and steam spurging systems, updating SOPs, periodic instrument calibration, and operator training. Finally, the Control stage is designed to ensure the consistency and stability of the quality of RBDPO at PT. XYZ on an ongoing basis.
