Abstract

Production layout planning is an important aspect in manufacturing systems because it affects the efficiency of material flow and production performance. Inefficient layout design can cause long material transfer distances, increased work in process (WIP), and production delays. This research aims to optimize the production floor layout and improve the production scheduling system at PT XYZ. The research method used is Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) combined with simulation using ProModel software. Data collection was carried out through field observations, production process identification, machine layout measurement, and production time analysis. The existing scheduling method uses First Come First Serve (FCFS), which causes delays in order completion. Therefore, a scheduling improvement is proposed using the Earliest Due Date (EDD) and Shortest Processing Time (SPT) methods. Simulation results show that the proposed scheduling algorithm combined with shift working hours significantly reduces production delays. The number of delayed orders decreased from 24 delays to zero delays. The results indicate that the proposed method can improve production efficiency and optimize manufacturing system performance.
