Publication Ethics

Sedanten: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies

Sedanten: Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies adheres strictly to the ethical standards set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher—must uphold the following ethical principles:

1. Duties of Authors

  • Authors must submit original, unpublished work that is not under consideration by another journal.

  • All forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification of data, are prohibited.

  • Authors must ensure the accuracy of data, provide proper citations, and acknowledge all sources.

  • Authorship must reflect significant contributions to the research. Ghost authorship and honorary authorship are not allowed.

  • Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest that may influence the research.

  • When involving human participants, communities, or sensitive data, authors must follow relevant ethical standards and obtain necessary approvals.

  • Authors must be willing to retract or correct their manuscripts if significant errors are discovered after publication.

2. Duties of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for making fair and unbiased decisions based solely on academic merit and relevance to the journal’s scope.

  • Editors must ensure that manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review.

  • Confidentiality must be maintained; editors may not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the editorial team and reviewers.

  • Editors must not use unpublished materials in their own research without written consent from the authors.

  • Editors must act promptly on ethical issues, including suspected plagiarism, research misconduct, or disputes over authorship.

3. Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback.

  • Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents.

  • Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.

  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest (financial, personal, or professional) and decline the review if such conflicts exist.

  • Reviewers must report any suspicion of plagiarism, data manipulation, or unethical research practices to the editor.

4. Duties of the Publisher

  • The publisher ensures that the journal follows ethical publishing standards, including maintaining academic integrity and transparency.

  • The publisher supports editors in addressing and resolving ethical concerns or complaints.

  • The publisher ensures the availability of high-quality editorial processes, digital preservation, and open access dissemination.

5. Handling Ethical Misconduct

  • Reports of misconduct—including plagiarism, data fabrication, improper authorship, or duplicate publication—will be investigated following COPE guidelines.

  • The editorial board may issue corrective actions such as:

    • Request for revision

    • Publication of correction or erratum

    • Manuscript withdrawal

    • Retraction of published articles

    • Blacklisting of authors in severe cases

  • All investigations will be conducted with fairness, confidentiality, and due process.
